Must the feed filenames match the specification?

Hi Syllabus Geeks,

 I got the following question from IT. The filename suggested for the course feed is concourse_courses.txt. Must this filename also be used for our initial templates load?

  Hello. 

  Feed files do not require a standard naming convention. However, I would at least suggest something informative. When talking about loading templates followed by courses, we’ve usually seen: 

  • concourse_courses_templates.txt + concourse_sections_templates.txt
  • concourse_courses.txt + concourse_sections.txt

  Again, you won’t need to use the former pair except when creating templates the first time.

  One last note. While file name is not specified, what will be important if you decide to then upgrade to regular feed processing is inclusion of the type of feed to be processed. This is described in further details in the automated feed processing article.
